Web6 feb. 2024 · My '38 Kay has rosewood fingerboard that's lighter in color than all of them. I don't dislike any of them aesthetically. The fretless looks nicest among the BGs, mainly because its uninterrupted by frets or makers. Functionally, I doubt the wood species makes any difference on the bass guitars. I've noticed the same variation on rosewood boards over the years. As far as which is which in the pictures.
