We describe a patient who had typical Sjögren's syndrome and iron deficiency anemia requiring blood transfusion. WebGastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) or “watermelon stomach” has been recognised as a distinct pathological lesion since 1984.3 GAVE exclusively affects the antrum of the stomach. At endoscopy, parallel, longitudinal folds of gastric mucosa are seen to traverse the antrum, converging at the pylorus.
Gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) is an uncommon cause of chronic gastrointestinal bleeding or iron deficiency anemia. The condition is associated with dilated small blood vessels in the pyloric antrum, which is a distal part of the stomach. The dilated vessels result in intestinal bleeding.
