WebSummary A total number of 282 single sputum specimens from patients with acute respiratory disease were stained by Papanicolaou technic and examined for presence of certain abnormalities, known as ciliocytophthoria (CCP), in exfoliated ciliated epithelial cells. Fifty-nine % yielded positive results, 30% were negative, and 11% inconclusive.
